THE RMFA CONFERENCE IN ZANZIBAR 2019

Towards the end of 2019, Records management foundation for Africa (RMFA) had one of its biggest conferences, a 4-day event held from 10th-13th of October in Zanzibar, on the shores of the Indian Ocean. This was the 33rd since the establishment of this great organization. Topics that had to be discussed included; electronic records management systems, e-governance, information literacy, digitization and automation of records among others.

This conference hosted a big number of delegates that mostly came from the countries that make the East African community i.e.. Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Gambia and Zanzibar itself. Having been held on the eve of the festive season, most delegates took this as a lifetime chance to tour places that they had never visited before and this made the conference more practical, by mixing peoples’ interests together with learning.

Let’s look at basic benefits of adopting DMS software for your organization

10th of December 2019 was the first day of the conference which had both the delegates’ arrivals from their different countries and the grand opening of the event which was done by one of the great records professionals at the continent known as Dr. Sulaiman Salim, a Director of Zanzibar Institute of Archives and Records.

Dr. Musa, Mr. Abbas, all from Zanzibar University, Dr. Sanya, a senior activist from Zanzibar corruption unit were among the panelists and together with Ms. Dorcus Atim, Mr. Denis Derua, Mr. Kukunda Johnsen, all from Records management foundation for Africa (RMFA) came together to make this a success. This continued for the following 3 days.

On the last day of the ceremony, 13th October 2019, the delegates had hit two birds with a single stone as they had both gained knowledge and evolved new friendships and most of them were seen gifting themselves in this festive season eve. This was a chance for most of them to tour part of Zanzibar and indeed visited the famous white sand beaches where they had one of their best memories of life and thankfully appreciated RMFA for the lifetime memories granted onto them.

After making this a success, Records management foundation for Africa (RMFA) has become a leading brand across Africa and the world at large when it comes to records and information management in both government offices and private companies.
